What are all teachers at daycare called?

Miss. (ex. Miss Kat, Miss Crystal, Miss Genna, etc.)

100

Is it safe to leave the room without asking a teacher?

No! Teachers must always know where you are for your safety. You must ask and wait for our response before leaving the room. If teachers do not know where you are and you get hurt, we cannot help you. It is important to ALWAYS tell a teacher where you are going. (bathroom, locker, need a break in hallway, fill up waterbottle, etc.)

100

T or F? A child hit my friend, it is MY job to "get them back".

False. Let your friend talk to the other child on their own to solve the problem, if they need help they will ask a teacher.

100

What is a kind way to greet someone?

Say "Hello Name". Good morning. Hi. How are you?

100
What makes you feel happy?

Various answers. People being kind to me, the weekend, playing outside, having a yummy snack, playing with friends, etc.

200

When you need help or have a question, which teacher should you ask?

ANY teacher in the room! We are ALL here to help and listen to all children, not just Miss Crystal.

200

Where is a safe place to run?

OUTSIDE or in the GYM where there is lots of space. It is not safe to run in the classrooms, they are not big enough and there are lots of obstacles in the way that can cause an injury. (chairs, toys, tables, people, shelves, desks, etc.)

200

T or F? I see a child take a toy away from someone else. It is up to ME to take it back from them.

FALSE. If the 2 children cannot solve the issue on their own, a TEACHER will help.

200

What can you say to someone who is bothering you?

"Please stop doing that. I do not like it." "Please go away, I want to be alone." If talking to them does not solve the problem, ask a teacher for help.

200

What makes you feel angry?

Various answers. People yelling at me, taking something from me, not listening to my words, running away from me, not playing with me, breaking my creation, things not going the way I want, etc.

300

If you cannot remember or do not know a teacher's name, should you just call them teacher?

No! Simply ask what our name is and we will gladly tell you :)

300

Is it safe to throw objects in the room? Why?

Throwing objects that are hard (toys, chairs, markers, bins, etc.) can be very dangerous and injure someone. It can also break the items, which if purposely broken the child will have to buy new ones. We can throw balls outside, in the gym, or where a teacher says it is safe to do so.

300

T or F? I see 2 children hitting each other and they are not stopping. I should go tell a teacher.

TRUE! It is not tattling when someone is in danger or being unsafe!

300

Name 5 acts of kindness.

Helping someone else. Cleaning up the toys. Talking to others nicely. Using manners, "Please, Thank-you, excuse me, No thank-you." Smiling. Giving compliments. Sharing. Taking turns. Apologizing. Inviting others to join us in play. Using kind words. Respecting others opinions.

300

What makes you feel sad?

Various answers. Being alone, missing someone, others not listening to my words, my creation broke, rainy days, getting hurt.

400

When trying to get a teacher's attention, what should you do or say?

Call us over by saying our name "Miss Name, can you come here please?" or by walking up to us and saying "excuse me Miss Name, I want to tell/show you something".

400

What is a safe choice when angry or upset, instead of hurting someone or running away from the teacher?

Answers can vary. Walking away to different area of room/ playground/ gym. Telling the teacher you need some alone time, they can supervise you from a short distance away and will be there when you are ready. Asking to squeeze something (ball, stuffy, pillow, etc.). Doing a breathing exercise. Counting. Doing a calming activity. Taking a break in a fort alone.

400

T or F? My friend does not like another child and tells me to go kick them. I should do what my friend told me.

FALSE!! Friends should encourage you to make good choices. If a friend asks you to do something you are not comfortable with tell them "No, I don't like that idea, I'm not going to do that."

Mme Lisa! :)

500

Is it safe to leave the building and be outside alone without telling anyone?

NO! You must be with a group/teacher/parent when going outside! It is not safe to be around vehicles or roads on your own. If a teacher does not know where you are, we cannot help you. You must always make sure you are being safe.

500

T or F? I am very angry/upset and want to leave. I should walk out the door and run down the hallway away from the teacher.

FALSE. Teacher's are here to help you. Tell them how you feel and together come up with a solution. If you are needing to be alone, we can come up with an idea. (make a fort, find an area in the room, sit in hallway near room, sit on a bench, walk down hallway with teacher, etc.)

500

Is it respectful to tease, call other people names, or say rude things?

No! At LVLC, we must be respectful towards everyone! Teasing is NOT acceptable behaviour. "If you have nothing nice to say, then don't say it." T.H.I.N.K. before you speak...Is it True? Is it Helpful? Is it Inspiring? Is it Necessary? Is it Kind?

500

What makes you feel calm?

Various answers. Listening to music. Drawing/colouring. Making a puzzle. Talking to someone about how I feel. Looking/shaking a sensory bottle (glitter moving through the water), hugging a stuffy, being alone with my thoughts, resting on the couch, going for a walk, taking deep breaths.
