If there is a consonant before -y, we have to change -y into -ie and after that, we add an -s on. For example, fry --> fries, copy --> copies
If there is a vowel before -y, we can simply add an -s after the verb. For example, play --> plays, buy --> buys

If a verb ends with -ch, -ss, -sh, -x, or -zz, you can add -es after the verb. For example, catch --> catches, pass --> passes, wash --> washes, mix --> mixes, buzz --> buzzes.

If the verb ends with -ie, change -ie to -y and add -ing after it. For example, die --> dying, tie --> tying.
