The actual plot
Captain Marlow sailed in the Congo River to retrieve Kurtz. Marlow struggles with the moral and ethical implications of colonialism and imperialism. Marlow hears rumors about Kurtz: increasing madness and cruelty. Marlow finds Kurtz to be a man who has given in to the darkness of colonialism and the darkness within himself. Kurtz die and Marlow returns to Europe.
