Paper one looks at non-fiction texts. Paper one asks you to complete a transactional / functional writing task. Paper one will have a 19th century text in it. Paper two looks at fiction texts - and will ask you how language and structure are used to convey plot/theme/mood/character/setting etc Paper two asks you to produce a piece of creative or imaginative writing.

Adjectives describe nouns. Adverbs describe verbs. Similes make a comparison using 'like' or 'as' Metaphors make a comparison by speaking of one thing as if it were another.

Explain what is meant by the structure of a piece of writing. Give an example of what you could look for when analyzing structure.
Structure refers to how a piece of writing is put together - how it flows and the 'journey' it takes the reader on. You might look at the mood or setting at the beginning of the text and see if it changes and/or is different at the end. You could note any build up of tension (or other emotions) You could see if it switches from personal to general; informal to formal; etc
