TEXT 2: One day, George de Mestral decided to take a walk. By the end of his walk, he noticed plants were attached to his pants. Although leaves could be easily brushed off, Mestral noticed that these plants had to be PULLED off. In curiosity, he decided to look closer. This plant was called a cocklebur. The small hooks at the end of this plant attaches to objects. Mestral was then inspired by this plant to create a fastener that also had small spiky hooks. And that is how Velcro was invented!
