What is robotics engineering?

Blend of electrical, computer and mechanical engineering that focuses on the building of robots

100

Name two forms of communication used in robotics engineering.

Coding, sensors (ultrasonic, touch, etc), radio signals

100

What is velocity?

Velocity is just movement in a direction: the difference between velocity and speed is that velocity has direction

100

Which project was a quadrupedal robot?

iDog

100

Describe a problem you had this week and how you solved it

Great job!

200

Name one thing you learned about robotics this week.

Nice work!
200

Name a project that used coding.

Drag Race Robot, Ro-ball, Sumo bot,

200

What aspects did we consider when building our Sumo Bots?

Mass, speed, momentum, inertia, etc.

200

What type of energy did the RC car use?

Electrical energy

200

Name three types of engineering.

Robotics, Chemical, Materials, Biomedical, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Environmental

300

What is a robot?

A robot is an autonomous machine programmed by a computer to be able to be capable of sensing its environment to carry out computations to make decisions, and perform actions in the real world.

300

Name four different types of LEGO spike coding blocks

starting block, movement block, forever loop, if else block, sensor blocks etc...

300

What is a gear ratio?

The relationship between how fast the first (driving) and second (driven) gear rotate. The gear ratio is often calculated by the number of teeth on the driving gearing over the number of teeth on the driven gear.

300

What two sensors were used in Sumo Bot?

Distance and color sensor

300

What is a prototype?

A simple model that helps you test out an idea, during the engineering design process.

400

What was your favorite project this week and why?

Yay!

400

What is the first block you use when coding in LEGO Spike

"when progam starts"

400

What allows a gyroscope to balance?

Angular momentum of the spinning piece.

400

What does RF receiver stand for?

Radio Frequency Receiver

400

What are the steps in the engineering design process

Ask, Research, Brainstorm, Plan, Create, Test, Reflect, Improve

500

Give one real world application of robotics engineering.

Medicine, Education, Restaurants, Assisted Living etc...

500

Define coding?

A set of instructions for a computer to follow. Computers need specific languages such as Python to understand the instructions.

500

Why do engineers design robots to mimic animal movement?

To help them travel across uneven or unpredictable terrain. To determine optimal gait patterns

500

Name all the projects we did this week

Drag Race Robot, RC Car, Ro-Ball, iDog, Sumo Bot, RoboGold Berg, Coding Basics

500

Name everyone in this camp room!

Amazing work!
