They go on the bookshelves designated for backpacks and lunchboxes

When can you sharpen your pencil?
During 10-minute warm up! Do not sharpen pencil during learning it is loud and disruptive, you will just grab a sharp pencil in the cup if needed
When should you fill your water bottle?
During breakfast, recess, lunch, and when classes switch, you should only get water during class if it is an emergency
Should you stop to grab your backpack or belongings during an emergency?
No. Leave your belongings unless specifically instructed otherwise.
What do you do when your table number is called for a transition?
Quietly get up, push in chair, grab any materials instructed to bring and walk to where you were told
What does holding up ONE finger mean?
You need a pencil/permission to get a pencil while Mrs. Bender is teaching
What should you do when you finish an assignment?
Look on the board for instructions! Early finishers can always work on Dream Box and missing math assignments. WE DO NOT SOCIALIZE AND DO NOTHING!
What Went Wrong? A student needs a tissue during independent work. They raise their hand and wait for Mrs. Bender to call on them.
They can quietly get a tissue without asking and return to their seat.
What voice level should you use during an emergency?
Level 0 = COMPLETE SILENCE!!!
What are the steps for packing up at the end of class?
Return math bins on shelf → get backpack/lunchbox → clean your table → pack quickly and neatly → quietly line up in alphabetical order → remain at Level 0.
What signal should you use if you need a tissue while Mrs. Bender is teaching?
A peace sign. You need to let Mrs. Bender know why you are getting up during instruction.
Mrs. Bender says the class needs scissors and glue sticks. A student gets up before their table is called and walks across the room to get them.
They should wait for Mrs. Bender to give their table instructions. When their table is called, they should walk quietly, get only the materials they need, and return directly to their seat.
What Would You Do? We are lined up to make the switch and realize you need to use the bathroom. You also need to fill your water bottle. What should you do?
This is an appropriate time to use the bathroom and get water. Get in line for the bathroom, only two students in the bathroom at a time!
What are the steps if there is a fire drill?
Quickly and quietly get up and line up at door. (This does not have to be in alphabetical order) Wait for instructions from Mrs. Bender. We evacuate out of bus circle gates and walk away from building.
You enter the classroom and your friend wants to talk to you. What should you do?
Stay at Level 0, complete the arrival routine, and wait until the appropriate time such as lunch and recess. Only math talk in class. NO TEA!
What is Mrs. Bender's big rule?
Always be at level 0 when Mrs. Bender is speaking! We RESPECT our teachers when they are giving instructions and teaching
What Went Wrong? A student finishes their assignment, puts it on their desk, and leaves the classroom without turning it in.
Write their first and last name, complete all required questions, and place the assignment in the Turn-In Bin before leaving.
You are working independently and need a tissue, your water bottle is empty, and you need to use the bathroom. Which things can you do on your own and which require permission?
Tissue: Can get one quietly during independent work or give peace sign signal when Mrs. Bender is teaching
Water: Ask permission using the W signal.
Bathroom: Ask permission using the two crossed fingers.
What do we do if the school goes into a lockdown?
Quickly and quietly sit behind green line. Mrs. Bender will ensure window blinds are closed and lights are off. We remain seated and stay COMPLETELY SILENT until all clear is called.
