Name at least 2 different systems in the body
Circulatory, digestive, nervous, respiratory
What is biology?
Study of life
This unit covered body systems
Metabolism
What are hydroponics?
Sysems that grow plants and don't use soil
What is DNA?
Genetic material in the cell.
Name the five senses
Smell, Hearing, Taste, Sight, touch
How do we study science?
research, observations, experiments
This unit covered natural selection
Adapt or die
It's made of:
Claim, Evidence and Reasoning
Scientific argument
what are amino acids?
Building blocks for proteins
Name 2 important parts of the circulatory system
Blood vessels, heart
What is a gene?
Part of DNA that codes for a protein that leads to trait.
In this unit we mady our hydroponics
Mimicking natures design
What is research?
Studying and/or conducting research about. topic
What are proteins?
They are big group of molecules that are cell building blocks, control chemical reactions, and have many other functions in the living world.
They are made of amino acids.
What happens in your body when you breathe?
Inhale through mouth/nose, air goes into the lungs, oxygen goes through alveoli to blood stream, blodd stream takes oxygen to cells that need it
How are DNA and traits connected?
DNA contains genes which carry a code for protein. each protein has a specific structure and that lead to them having a certain function which leads to s specific trait.
In this unit we learned about algae
Nature vs Nurture
What endangered species do you know?
Penguins
polar bears
Honey bees
Orangutans
Basking Sharks
Red pandas
etc
Which organisms make oxygen?
Plants
What happens in your body when you eat?
Food goes in the mouth, to the stomach where big molecules are digested/broken down. Proteins into amino acids, starch into glucose. Those molecules then go into the blood stream and to the cells that need them.
What is something we can use the see really small organisms/parts of organisms?
Microscopes
In this unit we learned about body healing
Cells and systems
What does algae bloom means?
Quick spread of algae
What is the process that uses oxygen for releasing energy?
Cellular respiration
