Explain the difference between glaze and paint.

Glaze is made out of slip and powdered glass. When glaze is applied to bisqueware it appears dull and a different color because it needs to be glaze fired for a chemical reaction to occur and be shiny. Glaze is waterproof and safe to eat and drink off of. Paint does not need to be fired, it is not waterproof, and doesn't change in color.
