I am a type of evidence. I come from people who were there at the time an event took place. Examples of me are things like diaries, artifacts, and photographs.
What is a primary source?
I am a story of real people and events. I help people understand what happened in the past.
What is history?
I am something that is created after an event takes place. I am created by people who were not at the event, but who have studied the event. I am a type of evidence. Your textbook is an example of me.
What is a secondary source?
I am like a detective because I ask questions about the past and try to find clues about it. I need proof and evidence to find out what really happened long ago.
What is a historian?
I am a primary source used to learn about history. You can examine me instead of reading diaries or books. I come in many different shapes and sizes. I was made and used by humans long ago.
What is an artifact?
I am the order in which things happen. Historians study me to see how events are connected, and what caused certain events.
What is chronology?
I am a story that people told out loud. I can also be a song that people sang. I tell how people from other times felt and what they believed. I am a type of primary source.
What is oral history?
I am a tool that helps to show when and in what order events happened. I show events in order, and I help historians study chronology. I can show the impact of an event and help compare what happened before an event to what happened after an event.
What is a timeline?
I am the way people think about or see things. I am often shaped by a person's background and beliefs. Because of me, one event can be understood differently by different people.
What is perspective? (Also counts: What is point of view?)
