A recent 2017 landmark case decided that schools under FAPE must provide more than de minimis and ensure that the student's IEP is reasonably calculated to keep appropriate progress.

A law named after a young girl who advocated for a change in language and successfully replaced it with intellectual disability.
what is Rosa's Law?
Students under IDEA are provided a document in school that sets goals and lists needs/accommodations needed for the student. The parents meet with teachers, administrations, etc. to talk about it and meet once every year to review it.

The year the name was changed to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
When was 1990?
A teacher who was let go due to recurrent tuberculosis was fired and went to court under section 504. It was deemed discrimination because although she was a major life activity was limited she was still qualified for her job.
