Who are the required members at an IEP team?
What is (1) One or both of the child’s parents (2) At least one general education teacher if the child is, or may be, in a general education environment. If the child has more than one general education teacher, the school can select which one attends. (3) Not less than one special education teacher of the child, or where appropriate, not less than one special education provider of the child; (4) A school district representative who is: qualified to provide or supervise the provision of specialized instruction; knowledgeable about the general curriculum; and knowledgeable about the resources of the district. (5) The individual who conducted the assessments of the student, or someone who is knowledgeable about the procedure used and the results, and is qualified to interpret the instructional implications of the results. (6) At the discretion of the parent or the district, other individuals who have knowledge or special expertise regarding the child, including related services personnel as appropriate (7) The student, when appropriate. *We must invite a child with a disability to attend the child’s IEP Team meeting if a purpose of the meeting will be the consideration of the postsecondary goals for the child and the transition services needed to assist the child in reaching those goals

Who is entitled to transportation?
What is Transportation is a related service when it is necessary in order for a student to benefit from special education. If a student cannot get to school on his/her own because of the physical or cognitive characteristics of his/her disability transportation can/may be provided as a related service. Transportation is also available to and from other sites for related services which are not provided at the student’s regular school. Transportation needs should be considered similarly as to general education students otherwise (i.e., participating in a programs that was not originally offered at the student’s homeschool.

When does the excusal form go home?

For example, ESY is required if an interruption of the child’s educational program may cause regression. The need for ESY must be specified in the child’s IEP.

Who has the rights to a copy of the assessment protocols?
What is parent and attorney/Advocate *California school districts can distribute copies of test protocols to parents of special education students without violating federal copyright law, in accordance with California Education Code section 56504. Such distribution of copyrighted test protocols is a fair use under copyright law because it is noncommercial and broadens parents' understanding of their child's educational needs. FERPA similarly allows parents to inspect and review education records "directly related to a student," including test protocols.
