Stats Studies
A type of study in which a researcher observes and measures population characteristics/variables but does not change anything (ie. existing conditions)
What is an Observational Study?
A count or measure of an entire population.

What are Control, Randomization, and Replication?
Data that can be categorized using names, labels, or qualities and is qualitative in nature.
What is nominal data?
The collection of all outcomes, responses, measurements, or counts that are of interest

What is a sample?
When a subject reacts favourably to a fake treatment (or placebo).
What is a placebo effect?
Data that can be arranged in order, or ranked and can be qualitative or quantitative
What is ordinal data?
Is a subset, or part, of a population

What is the control group?
The difference between the results of a sample and those of the population
What is sampling error?
A technique that helps control or minimize the placebo effect
What is blinding?
Data that can be ordered, with meaningful differences between the points. Zero represents a position on a scale

A numerical description of a population characteristic
What is a parameter?
The subjects in the treatment/experimental and the control groups.
What are experimental units? (or groups)
A type of sampling in which every member of of the population has an equal chance of being selected
What is a random sample?
A design in which neither the researcher/experimenter nor the subjects know if the subjects are receiving a treatment or a placebo
What is a double-blind experiment?
Data that is like interval data, but that has a true zero
What is ratio data?
A numerical description of a sample characteristic
What is a statistic?
A harmless/fake "treatment", made to look like the actual treatment under study
What is a placebo?
A type of sample in which every possible sample of the same size has the same of being selected
What is a simple random sample?
Groups of subjects with similar characteristics

Consists of information coming from observations, counts, measurements, or responses
