First, God has revealed Himself in a variety of ways whether that is through the created world, through human conscience, through the prophets, the Scriptures, and most fully, through Jesus Christ.

Christianity teaches that everyone falls short. The pursuit of God is about inviting His grace into your life to change you over time. Struggling and failing keeps you dependent on God.
We decide to face the failure instead of letting it take over us.
It's not about becoming perfect but relying on the Perfect One.

Why are Christians so judgmental and hypocritical?
Because of sin, we all fall short. However the Bible claims that there are two people who acknowledge their sin.
1. One who acknowledges their sin and continues to do it instead of changing their ways. A HYPOCRITE! Hypocrites make no such effort to wage war against their sin (Romans 8:13). Some people may use God as a way to put themselves on a pedestal.
2. Then there is one who acknowledges their sin and works to improve their ways everyday through Christ.
