30%

100

True or False: You must show your work on all assignments to receive credit.

True
100

Where must your cell phone be during class?

In your assigned pocket on the wall.

100

What is the ONLY accepted way to notify Ms. Novoa that you turned in missing work?

Email her at christina.novoa@pinecrestnv.org

100

What 4 things should be ready when the bell rings?

Notes on desk, logged into HMH, warm-up started, pencil and calculator out.

200

What percentage of your grade are tests and projects worth?

55%

200

Name all 4 things that must be on every paper you turn in.

Assignment title with module/lesson number, full name, date, and period

200

What happens if your phone is found within arm’s reach during class?

It is confiscated and turned over to security, and you'll receive a referral to the Dean. You pick it up at the end of the day.

200

What is the deadline for turning in all work for a module?

The day before the module test.

200

Are notes allowed on tests?

No — notes are allowed on formative assignments but not on tests.

300

How often does Ms. Novoa enter grades into the gradebook?

Once per week

300

If there is no step between the problem and the answer, what must you provide instead of showing work?

A 1–2 sentence explanation of how you arrived at your answer.

300

Name one permitted use of AI in this class.

Reviewing general concepts/vocabulary, or asking AI to explain a different similar problem (as long as you apply understanding independently).

300

If you are absent for 2 days, how many days do you have to turn in missing work?

4 days (3 base days + 1 additional day for the second day absent)

300

A student says “I don’t know” when called on during notes. Is this an acceptable response?

No — “I don’t know” is neither a question nor an answer. They must ask a question to get clarification so they can participate.

400

Under what 3 conditions does a zero NOT qualify for the lowest test score drop?

Missing tests, zeros due to missing work or no work shown, and zeros due to cheating.

400

You solved a problem entirely on your calculator and wrote only the answer on your paper. Will you receive credit?

No — anything done on a calculator must still be written out on paper.

400

What is the consequence for using AI to complete an assignment and submitting it as your own?

Automatic zero, no redo, notation in Infinite Campus, behavior referral to the Dean, parent notification.

400

What happens to work that is not turned in by the day of the module test?

It becomes a permanent zero — no work is accepted after the module is closed.

400

A student helps their partner by typing answers into their partner’s laptop while the partner watches. Who is cheating?

BOTH students — the one typing is doing work for their peer, and the one watching is allowing someone to complete steps for them.

500

A student scored 50% on a test where the class average was 55%. They completed test corrections perfectly. What is their new score?

75% (they lost 50 points and get half back = 25 points, 50 + 25 = 75)

500

A student submits their HMH assignment online but forgets to turn in their paper. What grade appears in IC, and what must they do to fix it?

A zero, marked incomplete. They must turn in the paper, then email Ms. Novoa. The grade will be updated the following week.

500

A student finishes their test early and pulls out their phone to text their parent for a ride. What happens?

They receive a zero on the test, phone confiscated, and behavior referral to the Dean — no devices may be used during the testing period for ANY reason, even after turning in the test, and your phone should not be on you anyway.

500

A student was absent for 4 days. They return on Monday but the module test is on Wednesday. What should they do?

Their absence window (6 days = 3 days for the first day absent + 1 day for each after) extends past the test, so they need to see Ms. Novoa to make arrangements for their make up work. They should also reschedule the test since they missed more than one lesson.

500

A student doesn't understand how to do a lot of the questions on their assignment. They decide to work on an assignment they have due next period for another class and do their math assignment at home. What happens?

They'll be given a warning the first time. You are not allowed to work on assignments from other classes if you are not finished with the work for mine. If this becomes a habit, parents or guardians will be contacted and a behavioral referral will come after.
