Cell phones are not permitted during a Table Students gathering. Phones are given to the "phone hotel" at check-in.
Is the use of alcohol or tobacco permitted at a Table Students event? Why or why not?
The use of alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, or any controlled substance is prohibited during any student ministry activity or event. Leaders must not provide, assist in obtaining, or condone the use of these substances by minors; doing so will result in immediate dismissal from leadership.

During a table students gathering, who is the first line of contact for hall safety and monitoring the doors?
The hall monitor is the first contact for any and all activity in the hallway and at the front doors. Their job is to be aware of all activity.

At the check in station.
Can Table Students Volunteers meet with students outside of a Table Students gathering? Explain.
Yes, but volunteers should communicate directly with the parents, share the plan with them, and meet in a public place. A good example of this would be attending a sporting event for the student.
For which role in Table Students must a volunteer be a member of the Table? Why?
Teaching leader. Volunteers that teach in Table Students must be pursuing or already members of the Table.
What's the procedure if a child has a food allergy?
Check their tag and ensure there are no foods of that type being served in the classroom.
How do we leave our classrooms at the end of service?
Clean and reset. Vacuumed and wiped down if necessary and with toys disinfected.
What is the '1–2 Rule,' and why do we use it?
Never be one on one with a kid. This keeps our ministry safe from anyone who would have ill intended purposes from being around kids.
What do you do when a student exhibits a problem behavior?
Clearly state what the problem behavior is and what the child should do instead. If the behavior continues give a warning. If it continues, the student may be asked to leave the activity but in a clearly visible area with the hall monitor.
At Table Students, who is responsible for the student before and after pickup?
Parents are responsible for their children until the time an activity is scheduled to begin and after the activity’s scheduled ending time. When students arrive to any church ministry or program, they are expected to remain in that program until the program ends and supervision is transferred back to parents.
What do you do if someone tries to pick up a child without a matching claim tag?
Ask them to go get their tag or a new tag from the Hall Monitor.
Where is the outdoor meeting spot if we evacuate the building?
In the grassy area in between the parking lots.
What are forms of appropriate physical interaction in Table Kids? How should we view this?
High fives, touching kids on the shoulder and helping sooth kids if they are in distress. We always want kids to feel loved, comforted and safe with the least invasive means of physical interaction required to do so.
What should a volunteer do in the case of an injury or an emergency?
Ministry staff and leaders should be prepared to protect minors in the case of emergencies. Student Ministry leaders should have the following phone numbers programmed into their cell phones. Note that 911 calls by cell phones are often not as direct as dialing the local emergency authorities.
What do you do if you are at a multi-generational ministry event where substances such as alcohol are legally and appropriately available?
Leaders should ensure that their behavior models responsibility and does not cause confusion for students. Leaders are encouraged to consider the influence they have on students and to live in a way that is consistent both in public and in private—modeling integrity and wisdom in all areas of life
Can youth assistants (Middle School/High School helpers) check out children? Why or Why not?
No, they are not the responsible party in the room. We want them to be playing with and interacting with the kids.

What is the correct procedure for bathroom breaks with preschoolers?
Womens restroom, prop door and allow them to use the bathroom independently, coaching from the hallway. Intervene only if necessary. Preferable have a woman perform bathroom trips.
What do you do if a student shares a desire to harm themselves or someone else?
Student ministry leaders may receive information that a student or other person has thoughts or desires to harm themselves or others. This information should be taken seriously and should be reported immediately to the student ministry coordinator or a pastor. They will follow the
suicide assessment fact sheet listed below. If the student seems to have the imminent intent to do harm, a leader or volunteer should stay with the student, and 911 should be contacted.
What process do adult volunteers go through in order to become a Table kids/student volunteer?
All volunteers complete an interview with the ministry coordinator, undergo a background check, and attend a leadership safety training session.
