How do we ask for snack appropriately?

"Hi ____, can I have snack, PLEASE?"

100

How do we let staff know that we want to go outside?

"Can we go outside, please?"

or

"Is outside open?"

100

What do we do when staff announce that it is time for group?

We grab our coping skills and go sit in the group room

100
When we're done playing with something during free time, what should we do with it?

Clean it up and put it away before we move on to the next activity, unless somebody else would like to use it

100

You are in group and feel like you need to take space. What should you do next?

Let a staff know you'd like to take space and leave the group room with them

200
If we don't like the snacks that are offered, what can we do?

Ask staff for a healthy choice.

200
When outside is open and staff have said we can go outside, what should we do?

Wait at the door until a staff comes to open it, and walk outside calmly.

200

How should you use your coping skill in group?

You should keep it to yourself and use it the way it is meant to be used, making sure you aren't distracting other people with it.

200

If someone is playing with a toy you'd like to play with, what should you do?

Ask if you can share, and if they say no, be respectful and wait your turn.

200

You took space and came back but you're still feeling angry and upset. What should you do?

Let a staff know, and if you need to take space again, you can.

300

When we are done eating, what do we do with our snack?

Clean it up by throwing the garbage away and putting any utensils/plates/bowls on the ledge.

300

If you are playing basketball and another person wants to join, but there are three people and only 2 basketballs, what should you do?

Take turns using the basketballs.

300

You really don't like group and you're feeling bored and want to leave. What should you do?

Use your coping skill and try your best to stay in group. If you can't, ask a staff to take space for a minute and then come back and try again.
300

Staff have chosen two main activities for free time. You don't like either of them. What should you do?

Let staff know you don't feel like doing either of the choices. Staff can give you options for other activities that are appropriate for free time.

300

You are feeling upset and angry, but somebody else is using the sensory room. What do you do?

Ask a staff if you can go into the office or use the tent until the sensory room is free.

400

If we have finished our snack and we're still hungry, what can we do?

Ask a staff if we can have a healthy choice or something to drink.
400
Staff says that it is time to go inside, but you don't want to. What can you do?

We can let staff know we are having a hard time going inside, and ask if we can have one more minute to get ready to go in. Sometimes it is hard to go back inside, but TAP rules are there for a reason.

400
How do you show that you are listening and paying attention in group?

You look at whoever is talking, you try and keep your body in your own spot, and you don't interrupt or talk over them.

400
Someone near you is upset and having a hard time. What should you do?

You can give them space, and let a staff know that they might need some help.

400

If you're feeling annoyed with a peer, what should you do?

Take some space, and if they won't leave you alone, you can let a staff know you'd like to take some space in the office and sensory room.
