Physiology
MOA of diuretics
What is reduction of blood volume via urinary excretion of water and electrolytes?
Side effects include Na+ and K+ depletion, gout, hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia
What are thiazide diuretics?
Effects of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system
What are increased water retention, arteriolar vasoconstriction > increased blood pressure?
Produces mild diuresis but does not cause hypokalemia
What are K+ sparing diuretics?
Two actions of spironolactone (Aldactone)
What are blocks reabsorption of Na+/reduce secretion of K+ and blocks action of aldosterone?
