What actions violate the Company's Drug/Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy?
Drunkenness or drinking on the job, reporting for duty affected by alcohol, or arriving with the smell of alcohol on your breath.
TRUE or FALSE. It is OK to swipe in your street clothes at your designated time clock.
FALSE. The company does not compensate you to change clothes. You must be in uniform when swiping at your designated time clock. Falsification of time.
Is tattoes acceptable at Mauna Lani?
Visible tattoos which are deemed inappropriate, excessive or offensive must be discreetly, consistently and effectively covered by make-up. Tattoos on the face area are not acceptable for front of house positions.
You are upset with your manager and leave your duty station without permission to go home. Is this acceptable?
No. Leaving your assigned work area without permission is considered walking off the job and is a terminable offense.
If you don't have direct deposit, where can you pick up your paycheck?
At the Security Office after 11:00 a.m. on payday.
What house rule in the Team Member Handbook did you violate by taking food from the cafeteria home without authorization?
#3. Dishonesty, theft, pilferage, embezzlement or aiding in such activities, or any attempt to pilfer, steal or misappropriate funds or any property, including any food or beverage items, items meant to be discarded, etc. Audit irregularities, theft or mishandling of Company funds, team member or guest property, including the failure to remit to the company cash received from guests for company services or purchases.
You are asked to provide a statement to security when you were listed as a witness during the investigation process. Can you refuse because you don’t want to be involved?
NO – You must cooperate in a security investigation. Failure to cooperate, hindering, or misleading an investigation is a violation of policy.
You forgot your name tag at home. Is it okay to borrow a co-worker's name tag if they're off today and not using it?
No. You must wear your own name tag with your established name; wearing someone else's name tag is not allowed.
How many call-outs in a year will result in disciplinary action?
Six (6) separate occurrences in a floating 12-month period is considered unacceptable and may result in disciplinary action up to including termination.
How do I access my pay stub if I use direct deposit?
You can view your pay stub through your ADP pay statement.
You are not feeling well so you take a brief “cat nap” to re-fresh yourself. What policy is this in violation of?
#16. Loitering on Company premises before or after working hours or without authorization. Idleness, visiting other team members, inattention to duty, interrupting the routine of another department, sleeping or giving the appearance of sleeping or "resting" on the job.
You are working and your personal cell phone rings. What policy are you violating?
Answer: What is “No personal cell phones or personal pagers at work. “ Keep in locker. Expected to be working and not doing personal business while on the clock.
Is it acceptable to wear thick, dramatic false eyelashes?
No. Properly applied, natural looking false eyelashes are acceptable.
You don’t show up to work or call in your absence for three consecutive days. What happens to you?
Answer: This is considered job abandonment and is a violation of policy #22 and #23. It is an automatic termination.
When do hourly team members receive double pay?
Double pay is earned only when working during a recognized holiday and at 12 straight hours.
Your co-worker tells you that you smell like alcohol but you are positive that you are not drunk. The last drink you had was the night before. Are you violating a policy?
Yes - Reporting to work with the smell of alcoholic beverage on your breath or person is a violation of the companies drug free workplace policy.
A Co-worker tells you that two of your other co-workers are ‘fooling around.’ What policy does this violate?
Answer: What is #17 in Rules we live by policy. Rudeness, misconduct discourtesy, disrespect, spreading rumors which in anyway may affect the guest or fellow associate or discredit the Company.
Are logoed or colorful shoes allowed for mens?
Shoes must be completely solid in color and must not have contrasting logos, trim, insignias, designs, laces, etc.
You are unable to work your scheduled shift and ask a co-worker to inform your manager that you are calling out. Is this okay?
No. It is your responsibility to notify your manager if you are unable to work your scheduled shift. You may leave a voicemail, but you are responsible for making every reasonable effort to contact your manager directly.
