NS
This process happens when organisms with helpful inherited traits survive and reproduce more often.
Natural Selection
This type of selection happens when humans choose which organisms reproduce because they want certain traits.
artificial selection
A population of beetles has brown and green individuals. Birds can see the green beetles more easily on dark soil. Over many generations, brown beetles become more common.
What caused the population to change?
natural selection caused by predation/camouflage
Farmers repeatedly breed corn plants that produce sweeter kernels.
artificial selection
Some flour beetles develop faster than others. If spring begins earlier and food is available sooner, faster-developing beetles may reproduce more.
What could happen to the faster-development trait over many generations?
become more common in the population Two
Wild bananas have seeds and tougher fruit. Store-bought bananas are sweeter, softer, and usually seedless.
What best explains why store-bought bananas have these traits?
inherited trait
