In a recent study, at the university of Cincinnati, researchers found that mice that drank water with added fructose ate less solid food, gained more weight and put on 90% more body fat than mice that drank only water. Scientist concluded that fructose may affect metabolism in a way that favors storage.

Megan wanted to see if she could get a balloon to inflate by mixing chemicals together. She thought that HCl would work the same as vinegar since it was an acid so she designed her experiment. She then put on her safety gloves and went to work. Megan measured out 10mL of baking soda and put it in the balloon. She then measured out 10mL of HCl and put it in a flask. She stretched the opening of the balloon over the flask and lifted the balloon so the baking soda would mix with the acid. She was excited to see that the when the baking soda and HCl mixed they began to fizz and the balloon inflated.
