Which statement is true about a roller coaster being pulled to the top of its first drop? A. The PE of the roller coaster DECREASES as it gains height. B. The KE of the roller coaster DECREASES as it moves at a constant speed. C. The PE of the roller coaster INCREASES as it gains height.
C. The PE of the roller coaster INCREASES as it gains height.

What is speed?
Speed is the distance traveled by an object in a given amount of time. Example: Mr. Tucci drove 65MPH on the highway.
100
The law of conservation state that.....
energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it can just change forms. Example:The energy transformation that is occuring in a battery-powered flashlight is... chemical energy->electrical energy-> radiant energy (light energy)

What does abiotic mean? Name 4 things that are abiotic. What does biotic mean? Name 4 things that are biotic.
Abiotic means was and is never living. For example, air, sun, water, dirt. Biotic means was or is living. For example, dogs, trees, grass, flowers.
100
What does domain archaea mean?
Tiny, simple, prokaryotic, single celled microorganisms that live in extreme and harsh conditions.
200
Which of the following best represents potential energy? A. Air leaking rapidly from a car tire B. A marble sitting at the top of a ramp C. Heat radiating from a large forest fire
B. A marble sitting at the top of a ramp.

The 6th grade teachers were playing a game of tug of war against the 7th grade teachers...the rope was not moving AT ALL...what does this mean in terms of forces?
The forces are balanced (means no movement will occur). The forces are going to remain this way until another force acts upon it (a 6th teacher pulling with more newtons of force to win the game)

What is the energy transformation of a solar powered fan used to keep the school cooler in the summer time.
Solar energy (energy from the sun) -> electrical energy -> mechanical energy (the movement of the fan blades) -> wind energy (used to cool you off).
200
What is one difference between a prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell.
Answers may vary...one could be a prokaryotic cell does not contain membrance covered organelles including a nucleus, while eukaryotic cells do contain membrane covered organelles including a nucleus.
200
What is the cell theory?
That all BIOTIC things are composed of cells.

As a boulder rolls from the top of a hill to the bottom, how does its potential and kinetic energy change? A. Potential and kinetic energy both increase. B. Potential increases and kinetic decreases. C. Potential decreases and kinetic increases
C. PE decreases and KE increases
300
Looking at a motion graph, how could we tell if the object is accelerating?
The motion graph will show an upwards slope.
300
What would be a good example of an item demonstrating energy being transformed from electrical -> heat?
Answers will be different for each student.
300
What are the levels of organization?
Starting with organisms, population, community, ecosystem.
300
What is renewable energy? Give me an example.
Energy that is inexhaustable (will never run out). Solar energy

Describe the conversion of PE to KE of a toy car that is rolling up and down a ramp.
The toy car is converting its energy from PE to KE when it goes from the very top (PE) to rolling down the ramp (KE)... the car will have the most PE when it is at the very top of the ramp and the most KE when it is rolling down the ramp.
400
What would a distance vs time motion graph look like if the object was staying at 15 meters for 15 hours.
This would be a no motion graph. The object did not move for 15 hours.
400
What are some benefits of using Solar energy to power a school?
Answers will vary
400
What does unicellular and multicellular mean?
Unicellular is one cell. Multicellular is 2 or more cells.
400
What is a community?
When different species are all together in one central location.
500
Give me three examples of PE and three examples of KE
Students answers will be different.

If a grizzle bear and pig were pushing a block while racing to the top of a candy covered mountain and the bear was pushing with 15 newtons of force but a monkey was pushing the same block in the opposite direction with 18 newtons of force. Would the bears block make it to the top of the mountain?
No because the monkey was pushing the bears block with more newtons of force. The monkey is keeping the bear from getting to the top of the mountain.

A microwave plugged into an electrical outlet goes through all of the following energy types EXCEPT which one? LIGHT THERMAL SOLAR MECHANICAL
The microwave plugged into an electrical outlet does not go through solar energy.
500
What level of organization does a pack of wolves represent?
a POPULATION
