Volleyball Positions
This position wears a different colored jersey from the rest of his/her teammates and can only sub in for players on the back line.
Libero
A player who has committed a MINOR penalty must spend this much time in the penalty box.

This happens at the start of each game, when two players meet at center ice and the referee drops the puck.
Faceoff

Often the tallest player on the team, this player positions his/herself in the front-center position on the court.
Middle Hitter
A serve that is unable to be returned and scores a point for the serving team
Ace
The time a player spends on the ice, usually 30-40 seconds, is called this. HINT: You do one too when you go to work.
Shift
Icing
This player is akin to the quarterback in football or point guard in basketball; he/she runs the offense.
Setter
This is when all six players on the court move to a different spot on the court in a clockwise pattern after regaining the serve.
Rotation
When a team has more players on the ice than the other team due to a penalty, they are in this.
Power Play
In volleyball, either team can score a point on a given play. This is known as THIS type of scoring.
Rally
This is often the team's best offensive player, whose job it is to attack the ball after it has been set.
Outside hitter
When a team is shorthanded due to a penalty, they are in this.
Penalty kill

This player is similar to a libero, but he/she can sub in for any player on the court. They're usually employed late in games.
