Groundwater is the water that hides deep beneath our feet, filling up the tiny cracks and spaces in the soil and rocks like a giant, underground sponge.

Describe why it’s important to protect the Earth’s fresh water resources.
It’s important to protect the Earth’s fresh water because there is so little of it. Humans need fresh water for drinking and bathing. Only 1 percent of water on Earth is fresh water that we can use. Because there is so little of this resource on Earth, it’s very important to protect it.

Water plants early in the morning or late in the evening after it's cooled off and the sun has gone down.

Wetlands are special areas of land, like marshes or swamps, that are covered by shallow water for most of the year and act like a giant sponge to help clean the environment.
If you lived in an area with a lot of drought, would you plant plants with deep roots or shallow roots? Why?
