How should you enter the classroom?
Quiet
Straight to seat
No running, goofing around
Get materials out
No blankets, squishies, etc.
When should you sharpen your pencil?
Before or after class.
During work time with permission.
How should I leave the classroom at the end of the period?
1. Push in chair
2. Walk slowly and carefully out the door (DO NOT RUN)
3. Do not intentionally try to trip people
4. This is a small room, be patient.
Does Mrs. Jensen give homework?
No - I give you plenty of time to complete your assignments in class if you are using your time wisely.
There are some assignments you will not be allowed to take home.
What is the cell phone policy at NBMS?
Cell phone in locker from the time you enter the building until you leave the building.

What should you do if you forget a pencil?
1. Ask a friend
2. Mrs. Jensen has pencils that she picks up off the floor for you to use, but when they are gone, they are gone.
Please don't break pencils.
When am I allowed to start packing up my stuff at the end of the period?
1. With permission - usually two minutes or so before the bell rings.
Packing up before the end of the period is distracting to others and is not using your time wisely.
If I was absent, where do I find the work from when I was gone?
The little file folder by the turn in bin.
Sometimes - google classroom.
*There is a reading make-up sheet if you were gone for library reading.
What is the best way to communicate with Mrs. Jensen (especially with parents)?

If Mrs. Jensen has hall duty in the morning, the door should be locked. What should you do while waiting for her to open the door to class?
Wait quietly in the hall.
Do not run around.
When can I use the restroom?
1. Remember the 10/10 rule
2. Ask permission
3. Sign out
4. Only 5 out per period per day (unless it's an emergency)
What should you bring to class on the day we go to the library?
Your library book.
Going back to your locker to get your book is an unexcused tardy.
When does Mrs. Jensen update grades?
I try to put grades in Synergy within two days.
Remember, the grade in Synergy is the one that matters. DO NOT WORRY about whatever grade you see in google classroom.
When can you sit in the wonderful pink chairs in the back of the classroom.
Only with permission - you can see some students from last year have written on my chairs - that makes me sad.
Sometimes the chairs can be used as a reward
What is the tardy policy in Mrs. Jensen's class?
Sit quietly in YOUR seat when the bell rings or it is an unexcused tardy.
What materials are you allowed to keep in Mrs. Jensen's class?
NONE!
We are preparing you for the high school. Keep your library books, text books, assignments in YOUR locker.
Describe the positive behavior we should see in the library.
1. Sitting in a chair at a table (4 people to a table).
2. DO NOT sit on the ground
3. Read quietly - do not distract others
4. Clean up any garbage
5. Be respectful to Mrs. Hensler
How are collaboration and cheating different?
Collaboration - sharing ideas, writing down those ideas in your own words.
Cheating - copying work others have done, plagiarizing work, using AI.
Cheating policy: A "0" on that assignment, not able to redo the assignment, may be referred to district office for consequences regarding this district policy.
When Mrs. Jensen says "hands to self" what are some things she might mean?
1. Do not touch other people.
2. Do not touch other people's stuff.
3. Do not touch the things on Mrs. Jensen's desk
4. Do not write on desks or bulleting boards.
When are you allowed to leave class AFTER the bell rings?
Bathroom (maybe)

What can I do if I have finished my classwork?
1. Complete missing ELA work
2. Complete missing work from other classes
3. READ - READ - READ your library book
4. Mazes, crossword, color page, word search
The reading in the library is a privilege.
What are some consequences for negative behavior in the library?
1. Only five per day will be able to go. The rest of us will read in the classroom.
2. We will stop going.
*I am not convinced that library/reading time is worth the all the time we take. If you want to keep this privilege, make sure you show me by your actions that you want this privilege.
What is the late work policy in this class.
You have two days AFTER the due date to receive full credit on your assignment.
On the third day AFTER the due date you will receive a 20% penalty.
Late work is NOT ACCEPTED two weeks AFTER the due date.
What is the food and drink policy in this classroom?
Nope - nada - only water in a water bottle with a good lid.
I am really tired of cleaning gum off desks, so if you chew gum, please throw it in the garbage when you are done.
