I'm About Tested Out!
Mr. Bones Wins Costume of the Year!
That Really Hurts!
Maybe I Was Born With it, Maybe its Normal?
Mr. Bones' Twin Sister!
100
Used to test the integrity of both cruciate ligaments and the joint capsule
What is Anterior Drawer Test?
100
The patella sits in a more superficial position than normal.
What is Patella Alta?
100
periostitis at the posterior medial border of the tibia, resulting from repetitive overuse, such as running
What is Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome, MTSS?
100
Also known as "Knocked-Knees". Places tension on the ligament structures on the medial side of the knee.
What is Genu Valgum?
100
Created when a line is drawn from the middle of the patella to the anterosuperior spine of the ilium and from the tubercle of the tibia through the center of the patella.
What is Q Angle?
200
Inspection of the menisci for tears or separated pieces.
What is McMurray's Test?
200
Overlies the anterior portion fo the patella and allows the patella to move freely beneath the skin
What is Prepatellar Bursa?
200
results from increased pressure within the compartment; threaten the integrity of the leg, foot, and toes by obstructing the neuromuscular network contained within the compartment.
What is Compartment Syndrome?
200
Blood in a joint cavity.
What is Hemarthrosis?
200
Comprised of the Sartorius, Gracilis, and Semitendinosus. Function to flex the knee and internally rotate the tibia.
What is Pes Anserine Group?
300
A test for cruciate laxity. The athletic trainer places one hand above the knee and one below; a positive test indicates a tear in the fibers of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament.
What is Lachnman's Test?
300
Formed by the popliteus muscle and its tendon. Functions to help resist external tibial rotation between 20-130 degrees of knee flexion.
What is Popliteus Complex?
300
a contusion occurring to the nerve that innervates the lower leg as it runs behind the head of the fibula.
What is a Peroneal Nerve contusion?
300
Hyperextended knees. Produces undue anterior pressure on the knee joint and posterior ligaments.
What is Genu Recurvatum?
300
Located on the lateral side of tubercle of the tibia. The iliotibial band insterts here.
What is Gerdy's Tubercle?
400
While athlete is prone with knee extended, examiner squeezes the calf while observing for ankle plantar flexion. Posivite test indicates Achilles tendon rupture.
What is Thompson Test?
400
Arises from the anteromedial intercondylar of the tibia to insert on the medial wall of the lateral femoral condyle. Main function is to provide stabilization against anterior translation of the tibia on the femur.
What is Anterior Cruciate Ligament?
400
A blood clot that is potentially a life-threatening condition because of the associated risk of pulmonary embolism if the clot should dislodge.
What is deep vein thrombosis?
400
Pain at the attachment of the patellar tendon to the tibial tubercle. Typically seen in adolescents
What is Osgood-Schlatter Disease?
400
The remains of unabsorbed fetal synovial cavities in the knee, which form synovial folds and cause pain
What is patellar plica?
500
While the athlete is supine with the hip of the affected side externally rotated and foot slightly everted, the examiner taps over the tarsal tunnel. Radiating pain in the foot and toes indicates a positive test.
What is Tinel's Sign Test?
500
The PCL and ACL wind upon each other in flexion and unwind in extension. During extension the tibia externally rotates 5-7 degrees on the femur. To initiate flexion, the knee must be "unlocked" by the tibia internally rotating compared to the femur.
What is Screw Home Mechanism?
500
formation of a nodule of fibrous tissue in the anterior portion of the ACL graft; sometimes results following ACL reconstruction surgery.
What is cyclops lesion?
500
Degeneration of the cartilage on the posterior aspect of the patella caused by friction.
What is Chondromalacia Patella?
500
Lies within the lateral head of the gastrocnemius muscle. Increases the thickness of the tissues in the posterolateral corner of the knee.
