Yonah didn't want to warn the people of Ninveh. He thought he could run away from Hashem. We learn He's inescapable.

He was confident he would be saved because he had already survived 3 days
Why was Yonah swallowed by the whale?
Yonah was meant to go to Ninveh but he didn't, he was swallowed to teach him a lesson
What does davening to Hashem do?
Hahsem wants us to succeed so when we daven we are creating an exit and learning a lesson which is fulfilling our mission just like Yonah did.

Hashem got the whale to swallow Yonah as soon as he was thrown into the water
Why was Yonah spat out the דג גדול and into the דגה?
The male fish was too spacious, so Hashem needed to send a smaller one to encourage Yonah to do Teshuvah.
