Made up of a married couple with their biological or adopted children
Nuclear Family
People join the mother’s family at birth and stay throughout their life
Matrilineal Descent
It includes other members of the kinship group like your uncles, cousins, or grandparents
Extended Family
People have the lifetime membership of the fathers group
Patrilineal Descent
this is a process referring to growing predominance of nuclear families over extended families
Nuclearization of the Families
In some societies their descent trace through this descent from either the fathers or mother.
Unilineal
Nuclear and Extended Families can be classified as
Family of Orientation or Family of Procreation
