"During all meals, all staff should help youth behave appropriately and stay in approved areas. Do not cheer in the cafeteria for any reason...or sing "Happy Birthday" (unless approved by the campus staff). Set a good example for the youth."

Carrie waltzes out of her room at 10:05pm. She asks if she can visit her cousin on a different floor to get a phone charger. How would you respond?

Emphasize that youth can't leave the floor after Head Count in a loving but firm way. Possibly redirect her to other times of the day where she could grab her charger (breakfast, flex time, etc). If it's crucial, text your AC for assistance.

What are the three things you should do when a youth or a CN is sick?

1. Notify a WC

2. Keep your distance

"Arrive early enough to be seated...ask your youth to get out their scriptures, FSY handbooks, and a pen before the opening prayer. Remind them to keep their materials out until after the closing prayer. To promote reverence, stay standing and keep an eye on the youth until the session coordinator stands to get the meeting started. Sit with your company and learn from the session adviser. Take notes and prepare possible questions to ask during R&R."

At breakfast, Jake and Alex start talking about politics at the table with the entire company present. You overhear Jake and Alex starting to argue about their political opinion. You're further down the table and your co is on break. The other youth in your company look visibly uncomfortable. What would you do?

Immediately get involved and de-escalate the situation. Directly address that their topic of choice is inappropriate for FSY. Remind them of the FSY Purpose and the Standards of Conduct they agreed to before coming to FSY and in Meet Your Counselor. If the situation progresses, contact your AC for assistance and if an Incident Report would be needed.

Do not end R&R early trying to allow youth extra time to shower.

Immediately call your/any AC, SC, or WC and put them on speaker phone. Explain to the youth the "Rule of 3" and that you must contact another FSY Staff member. Keep a safe distance from the youth. Quickly try to get another staff member present.

You, Amanda, and Kim are walking to lunch from classes. Amanda mentions how she felt disconnected from the last class because they talked about families. Amanda mentions how she doesn't feel loved at home, but doesn't say much else. What would you do next?

Ask Amanda, possibly not around Kim, what she meant by her comment of not feeling loved at home. Depending on Amanda's response, an Incident Report may or may not be needed. We want clarification, but not an investigation.
