What is a Franchise?
An expansion of an industry by using other products to sell their own. (Trademarks or logos on something to sell what is trademarked.)
What is Conformity?
Conformity is the practice of fitting in, or doing what everyone else is doing.
What is a Conglomerate?
When a company expands its products to other industries. (A refrigerator company also selling oil.)
Why did conformity help get people jobs?
Companies wanted people with less creativity, and more people who could just work. If they all conformed and worked, that was good by business standards.
Why are Conglomerates useful in business?
Conglomerates keep a company from falling if one industry crashes. (Company has both oil and refrigerators, if refrigerator business dies, the company is still fine.)
Why were there so many people conforming?
The Cold War, the fear of Communism, and the American Dream all lead people to think that conformity was the right choice.
