Rosa Parks refuses to give up her seat on the bus for a white person. Begins a largescale boycott and MLK is chosen to lead the nonviolent protests. Boycott lasts a year and there are bombings, snipers and violence.

Cuban missile bases had nuclear bombs from Russia. JFK quarantines Cuba and challenges Russia that of they move beyond a specific longitude with their ships the US will launch nukes. Russia eventually backs down.

Anyone over the age of 18 who was eligible to join the military was entered into a lottery based on their birthdays. When your date was called decided when you were deployed to Vietnam.

Blacks and whites from all over march on Birmingham and are arrested. No bail meant the jails filled immediately and there was nowhere to put them. 6000 kids were arrested, and attack dogs and firehoses are used on protestors.

It was LBJ's war on poverty. It focused on providing housing (HUD), healthcare (created medicare and medicade), food (food stamps and hot school lunches), and more environmental regulations as well as foundations for the arts and humanities.
