No. Currently there is no process available to the County to condemn a property. The state has such powers but is unlikely to use them on something like an abandoned home or nuisance property.

Postal Inspector. There are approximately 1,250 Postal Inspectors, who are authorized to carry weapons, make arrests, execute federal search warrants, and serve subpoenas.

County Highway. County High is the entity responsible for maintaining streetlights in the County so long as it is not a Road District. Road Districts are run by the community they belong to, and typically have something like an HOA that assists in directing tax money to things such as road maintenance.

What class of crime is a County Ordinance?

Class 2 Misdemeanor. Violations of a County Ordinance are Class 2 Misdemeanors and can not be fined. Anyone cited for violating them is required to have a court appearance.

Is there an SDCL that covers mail theft?

No. Mail theft is a Federal crime, and is not specifically covered under SDCL. Theft of property, including mail and packages and depending on the value, may be covered under SDCL such as 22-30A-17.2

Does Meadow Ridge Apartments have security cameras?

No. They are currently considering getting them installed and I have been in touch with Jamie Davidson about possibly utilizing a grant to assist with the purchase.

An abatement. All fees incurred are added to the property tax. Lawn mowing is the most common abatement.

The United States Postal Inspection Service is a law enforcement entity that investigates crimes such as mail theft. The bombings committed by Ted Kaczynski were investigated by the USPIS, and first person to interview him was a member of this agency.

What program used by Deputies everyday can help to keep track of crime?

Central Square. Pennington County currently lacks a system of tracking crime such LexusNexus, which RCPD can utilize. Case reports can be added to LexusNexus and show the address and crime on an interactive map. In lieu of this resource, Central Square can have a case built and attached to an address and crimes committed at this address linked to this case.
