The State Colonization Law of 1825 increased the states population by attracting settlers and allowed Stephen F. Austin to develop his first colony, San Felipe de Austin, where they had plentiful wood and access to water. However, this law limited immigrants entering Texas and caused Green DeWitt's colony to fail. 

The Law of April 6, 1830- Mexico did not want Americans entering Texas.
