What is a Static character?
A mean man orders a very expensive meal ($55) in a restaurant and complains to the waitress that there is something wrong with each item he orders. The waitress patiently addresses each of his complaints. On his way out of the restaurant, he left a quarter on the table as a tip. The waitress called out after him, "Thanks for the generous tip Mister!"
What is verbal irony?
I ran home everyday after school and watched TV until dinner time.

Tom always liked Lucy, but Lucy did not like Tom at all. One day Lucy came home to find an eviction notice on her door. Her roommate had not been paying the rent as she was supposed to. Lucy had 24 hours to be moved out of the apartment and Lucy doesn't even have a car. But Tom has a truck. Lucy calls Tom and tells him that she had always liked him but was too shy to ask him out. Tom says yes immediately and feels happy and lucky that Lucy finally likes him.

What is a dynamic character?
The rapper Eminem is well-known for his song writing ability, but he is equally known for his shockingly profane and obscene lyrical content. Eminem has made a fortune selling his curse filled songs to millions of children around the world. But, during an interview, Eminem claimed that there was no swearing in his own home and that his children were not allowed to play music with curse words in the lyrics.

Sadie, the smartest dog in the world, knows the names of 25 of her toys.

A logical guess about the story or character based on evidence from the story
What is an inference?
A bride changes the plans for an outdoor reception when rain is forecasted for the very day of her wedding. The bride and groom and their guests are enjoying the delicious wedding cake when the sprinkler system malfunctions in the ballroom and soaks everyone with cold water.
