No, unfortunately they cannot. Any exchanges after tax free weekend must be for the EXACT same item to maintain tax exempt status; otherwise sales tax will be charged for the new item. This customer can exchange their iPad for a different color if they're willing to pay sales tax on the new one.

This is possible provided you can retrieve the following:
Receipt, Serial #, and SKU of the exact model MacBook.
Return the MacBook CLOSED BOX. This ensures that it is available to sell again. Then sell it in a new transaction, following the steps required to remove sales tax.
