Does a student have to receive all 5 Pre-ETS?

It depends on the student's need.  Students receive the Pre-ETS they need, but this does not have to be all 5.

What is the definition of a student with a disability?

An individual in a secondary, post-secondary or other recognized education program between the ages of 14 to 22 who:   

a. is receiving special education or related services under Part B of  IDEA

OR

b. for purposes of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, is an individual with a disability.

Can a student with an open VR case receive Pre-ETS?

Yes!  Pre-ETS are available to SWDs with DARS PE or VR cases?

What is a potentially eligible (PE) DARS case?

The case of a student with a disability who has not applied to DARS' Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) program but is connected to DARS to receive Pre-ETS.

Workplace readiness training.

Can DARS pay for transportation for a student to participate in a Pre-ETS activity?

No.  Transportation is a VR service.

What is a Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) DARS case?

The case of an individual with a disability (student, youth or adult) who has applied to DARS' VR program.

Instruction in self-advocacy.

When do Pre-ETS end?

-The student no longer has a need for Pre-ETS.

–The student is no longer interested in or available to receive Pre-ETS. 

–The individual no longer meets the definition of SWD.  (E.g. is no longer enrolled in a recognized education program).
