Why is it important to stand up for yourself if you are being bullied?

It is important to let the other person know that you are not okay with being treated poorly.  If the other person thinks that you are not afraid, and are willing to stand up for yourself, it is more likely that the bullying will end.  People who bully are often looking for a target that they consider "weak" and who can be easily manipulated.

Bullying is repeated, on purpose aggression where one person is more powerful than the other in some way (more popular, bigger, etc).  Conflict is when people disagree with no power imbalance and both parties are mutually involved.
