Read the passage below and identify the type of conflict:

My name is Shaquem, growing up my dream was to play for an NFL team.  I was a great athlete participating in track, baseball and football. I was always doubted because as a young child I had my hand amputated.

The world wasn’t ready to see me for my accomplishments. They judged me based on what they could only see with their eyes, not how I saw myself.  I was very determined.  I played football in college and was drafted into the NFL. I realized my dream.

Identify the theme in the excerpt below?

There was a new girl in class. She was really quiet and refused to work with anyone in class. When I tried talking to her she walked passed me, as if I didn't exist. I thought to myself what a snob. She must think she is better than me.

Soon everyone started ignoring her in class.  One day I found her crying the girl's bathroom. I asked her what was wrong, she stated that she was sad because she couldn't make any friends. At her old school other kids would pretend to be her friend to make fun of her. I felt bad because I had judged her.

Later that day I invited her to eat lunch with me and we soon became good friends. I learned a valuable lesson that day.

Don't judge people so quickly.

Be kind to others, you never know what they are going through.
