This time of the liturgical year does not have anything special in it. The main focus in the readings of the Mass is Christ's earthly ministry, rather than any one particular event. This seasons color is green.

This season usually lasts 40 days, includes "Passion Sunday" and "Palm Sunday", and leads into Easter. A tradition of this time is to give up something for 40 days. The crucifix and the saints are covered by purple cloth. This seasons color is violet/purple and on some days is rose colored.

This is the day when the washing of the feet is done. During Gloria in Excelsis Deo, all of the church bells may be rung and the instruments played. After this song no music is played until the Easter Vigil. (Hint: Think about your time at church last year. Were there any times when you noticed the lack of music?
