Rome has mild climate throughout the year, good farmland, and was a strategic location. It had hills and mountains, the Tiber River and the Mediterranean Sea. People there had hilltop homes for protection, the Tiber River for clean water and bathing and the Mediterranean Sea for trading and invading others.
