Myth- School based clinicians meet clients wherever they are; school, out in the community, client's home, library, park, or office. Client's preference is important!

Myth- The school based team thoroughly enjoys all kinds of collaboration!
School based clinicians only assist clients with their school performance? Fact or Myth?
Myth- School based clinicians address clients struggle with mental health and how it impacts their functioning in school, home, and the community. Performance in school is only 1 of the many pieces that can be impacted by a client's mental health.
Eligibility for the School Based Program is determined by insurance?
Myth- Anyone client coming to FSA that attends a participating school is eligible for the program. It's most helpful if school is being significantly impacted by client's mental health and visa versa.
School based clinicians work is systemic? Fact or Myth?
Fact!- School based clinicians pull information from various systems involved in the clients life; school, home, and community being 3 of those systems.
The school based clinicians see students from all high schools within the Kane County Area. Fact or Myth?
Myth- SBMH works with K-12 clients in 13 schools from U-46 and 7 schools within D300.
School based clinicians do the exact same thing as a School Social Worker. Fact or Myth?
Myth- This is often a misconception. Their jobs are WAY different. We'll review that in the presentation today!
Working within the school and district, simplifies the SBMH clinicians job. Fact or Myth?
Myth-The school based clinicians job is incredibly complex, ESPECIALLY when navigating the needs and expectations of the districts and the individual schools!
The referral process from schools filters through FSA the same way as other clients that come to the agency? Fact or Myth?
Fact! Students are referred by school social workers, or counselors directly to Intake, then filter through ISC and onto the School Based Team.
School Based Clinicians have district ID's, Key Fabs for building entry, and special access to student information within the district's information system. Fact or Myth?
Fact- SBMH has access to all of these things. Access to Infinite Campus is key in seeing student schedules, helping monitor interventions from the school, grades, and attendance with the client and family.
