These people set the "Principal- Need Information" flag when more information is needed.
Who is the principal- not APS.
(APS does not set this flag when more documents are requested by the principal)
Enrollment messages you and asks if you can update the Potential Child Find section of the Placement Data View. When you ask the reason, they advise that the student has been absent from school a lot.
What is: no need to update the PCF for attendance concerns, unless it is tied to other more serious reasons that may affect the STs physical, social, emotional, and/or psychological health. Early WD or not being enrolled in school yet for the SY does not need to be tracked through the PCF section.
Incoming 9th grade ST who has already earned 4.5 high school credits in honors courses and is requesting two AP courses. CT mentioned in "Caretaker notes about academic documentation" that they are still awaiting a credit update from a summer course and ST is interested in early grad through a state specific program that we do not offer.
What is: SC review!
8th grade S2 enrollment- semester change. ST progress report does not show a math course.
What is: Principal review
(you can also reach out to CT and ask about math course!)
Incoming HS ST for S1 enrollment has submitted a 2021 progress report that includes electives we do not offer. How would you move forward?
What is: no need to send to SC. You can place; we would attempt to find electives that are as close as possible to ease transition (ex. from Business Ethics to Intro to Business)
A reason for setting the Principal- Awaiting Feedback flag.
What is: if an account needs to be sent back to the principal for further feedback (ex. overrides seem incorrect, or GT does not appear to have been considered)
*We don't really use this flag anymore. It is fine to just set Principal Review flag again*
Academic History contains a lengthy note from CT indicating STs multiple visits to a psychiatric facility and updated IEP, but no IEP info on acct.
What is: Update Potential Child Find section, and if IEP is required by state, be sure to add that section to DV and contact CT.
An incoming 10th grader needs placement for S2. They are requesting all standard courses on the SIF, but their verified RC shows current passing grades in honors courses.
What is: no need for SC review.
- you can match the honors courses, or
- you could also place in standard based on SIF (consider checking field history to see how recently standard was requested, going by grades, and any applicable state page notes)
7th grade semester change enrolling for S2. ST was placed just after the start of the school year and assigned GT LA and Science.
What is: remove S1 courses and review state page to confirm whether ST is still eligible for S2 GT.
HS ST has failing grades on 2021 progress report in Math and World Language. ST enrolling for S2 and enrollment space is limited.
What is: S1 grades or UT (depending on state page) is still needed.
6th grade ST not requesting GT courses. Progress report shows math course entitled, "Math transitions".
What is: send acct to principal for math recommendation.
ST Academic History shows that 5th grade retention request was selected in error. CT notes about academic documentation indicate that ST was in 4th grade honors courses for 1920 SY. No 2021 docs or schooling info on acct.
What is: update GL completed, request 2021 doc, and contact CT.
Incoming 9th grade ST requesting all AP courses. ST earned straight As in 8th grade honors courses.
What is: No need for SC review unless CT is adamant. 9th graders are typically not ready to be placed into AP coursework and need honors prereqs. This ST has taken honors courses, but on the middle school level.
*extenuating circumstances can be considered by SC (ex. Doogie Howser, M.D.)*
Inspire 8th grader enrolling for S2. ST earned an 68% in "STEM Class B" course.
What is: assign SKAs and contact CT. Account will need to be reviewed by the principal.
ST enrolling for S2 requested GT Math. Was previously placed into GT Math before account was archived for not completing FC. ST has been reactivated and submitted progress report showing all standard courses.
What is: place in standard.
This person sets the "Need additional information" field for Entrance Age Eligibility Reviews, as well as Academic Performance Eligibility reviews
(academic performance eligibility can also be SC)
Who is: the principal. APS does not use this dropdown option in this field.
So what do WE do? Remember to set this field to "pending" when requesting documentation per principal. Remember to update the Eligibility communication fields at the bottom.
This is the place you refer a CT when they ask about other online school options, homeschooling options, or state graduation requirements.
What is: the local school district. Remember that we cannot advise a CT regarding these; we should advise to check with the school district so that families are within their state's guidelines. APS can advise of CA graduation requirements, which are very similar, but sometimes slightly different than state requirements.
HS ST needs 10 credits to be considered 11th grade. The ST has earned 9 credits and has satisfied science requirement for graduation. How would we move forward?
What is: we can still place and assign a science, which will count as additional credits.
If CT has indicated on SIF that ST does not want a science course, or that ST has another track they are following, we can send to SC.
ALCA HS ST not currently enrolled in school. Do we send to SC?
What is: No. ST is ineligible.
If CT calls in with an extenuating circumstance or a log exists explaining such, eligibility can be set to pending review.
ST on DR as a Principal Placement. Principal recommended all A courses for S2. Send back to confirm or place?
What is: place as recommended. In some states (ex. Inspire), the STs may need to pass A courses before being able to take B courses.
*Be sure to review principal's comment section, and the date when the comment was left if the ST has been sent more than once*
