A shot that typically shows the actors and or important objects and is usually intended to place them in some relation to their surroundings.
What is Wide Shot?
The basic building block or unit of film narrative; a series of frames that runs for an uninterrupted period of time.
What is Camera Shot?
A series of frames that runs for an uninterrupted period of time.
What is a Take?
Shot that is captured at a medium distance from the subject. It is mostly for dialogue scenes but is also used to depict body language and more of the setting. Often it will frame multiple subjects as well as a portion of the background and space in general.
What is Medium Shot?
A shot, or series of shots that comprise a single, complete and unified dramatic event, action, unit, or element of film narration, or block of storytelling within a film usually occurring in one location and dealing with one action.

Another term for the "Story".
What is Narrative?
Shot in which the frame encompasses two people and shows the emotions and reactions of the two people in the scene.
What is Two Shot?
This shot may be the only shot used or most often it is used in conjunction with any or all of the other additional ‘shots’ to tell the story.
What is Master Shot?
Another term for "Camera Shot".
What is Camera Angle?
Shot where one character is shown looking at another character, and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character. Since the characters are shown facing in opposite directions, the viewer assumes that they are looking at each other.
What is Reverse Shot?
The minimum number of shots needed to show or explain everything happening in a scene.
What is Basic Scene Coverage?
Sometimes (although rarely) used in conjunction as a Master Shot.
What is Establishing Shot?
Shot that adds emotion to a scene and tightly frames an actor's face, making their reaction the main focus in the frame.
What is Closeup Shot?
In addition to Wide, Medium, Two, Reverse and Closeup this shot is sometimes used to direct attention to something specific in a scene.
