False! Remember the late work policy from our homeroom orientation session. Unless you are missing work because you were absent, there are steep penalties for turning in late work.

No! She planned ahead. We are all human, but also be resourceful and problem solve.

No - tests in ELA cannot be retaken and no corrections are allowed. That's why it's REALLY important to study and pay attention!
A student finishes his 300 page independent reading book the first week of school. He's met his page requirement for the quarter. Does he need to keep reading independently outside of class time?
Yes - to do his weekly reading logs he will need to have read approximately 20 minutes outside of ELA class a day. The page number requirements are a minimum.
Picture it: Isaiah has ELA homework and he forgets to do it in the evening. He arrives at school at 8am every day. What should Isaiah do?

Sarah struggles to answer her myth information questionnaire. She googles information about Demeter and copies the information onto her questionnaire but changes a few words. Did she commit academic dishonesty?
Yes - that is still considered plagiarism unless she gives credit to the source she copied. If she presented that information as being her own words, she will earn a zero and be referred to Mr. Coleman for discipline.

If you miss school on a Friday you will miss an ELA test or quiz. What should you do?
1. Study 2. When you return to school take the missed test/quiz during recess, homeroom, or arrange with Ms. Stever to take it right after school. Do not put off taking a test until the last possible day you can (the 5th day).
This is an example of why we always ask students. If Tyrone didn't give his essay to Olivia so that she could copy it, he didn't know she'd copy it. Olivia definitely would earn a zero. For the most part, I would avoid sharing your work. If you need help, please ask me! It's literally my job.
