Is this an appropriate question to ask the interviewer?
What is the pay?
It is NOT appropriate. Usually, by the second interview (if there is one) it is okay to inquire about compensation, but it's better to wait until a more appropriate time, OR if the interviewer asks YOU.
What is the lowest hourly amount an employer must legally pay an employee?
A minimum wage
Taking at least 3 copies of your resume is a good idea
True!
Sometimes, there is more than 1 hiring manager present. Having multiple copies available is helpful, and shows you are prepared!
I submitted my application on Tuesday. It's now Friday - should I send a follow-up email today?
Following up on an application should be done about 1 1/2 - 2 weeks after you submitted it. You don't want to follow up too soon (hiring managers are busy people! They may not have gotten to your application yet).
May I have your contact information to follow up?
Yes! This gives the impression that you are organized and prepared.
What are the next steps in the job process?
Yes! This question shows that you are interested in what to expect next.
What is STATE minimum wage in California?
$14 per hour

This question is a no-no because it shows that you have not done your research! What else does it tell the employer about you?
Does the minimum wage vary by city?
Yes, it does! To look up the minimum wage in your city, do a google search using the search terms " minimum wage + city "
Sometimes, interviews are conducted over the phone
True! Sometimes they are conducted via video as well. Every company's process may differ.
Is this a good answer to "Tell Me About Yourself":
I have lived in Los Angeles all my life, and really like to hike and my favorite food is Italian!
This isn't an appropriate response because the information you are offering up is not relevant to your professional experience or skills.
What does a typical work week look like for this position?
Yes! This is a good question because it shows you are interested in understanding how their business operates. Curiosity is something we want to show during an interview.
What do you see as the most challenging aspect of this job?
What is a "Direct Deposit"?
This is a form of payment where the employer deposits the employee's wages directly into their bank account.

The employer asks: Why did you leave your last job?

"I left because I really dislike my boss. It was annoying that they scheduled me super late, even though I told them not to."
This response is not appropriate. Why? Give an example of what an appropriate response would be :)

What is a typical day/week like here?
Yes! This shows you are curious about how the business operates. This also can open the window for you to bring up a skill that would be useful in that environment.
