It consists of the parts that attach to the front of the engine.
What is the engine front end?
This has one weight mounted on the outside of the crankshaft pulley and another inside.
What is dual-mass harmonic balancer?
This is also used to turn the camshaft.
What is timing chain?
This is used to take up the slack in the chain as it wears.
What is the chain tensioner?
This fits in the crankshaft pocket.
What is the oil slinger?
High frequency movement from the crankshaft.
What is harmonic vibration?
This operates the belts for the alternator water pumps and other units.
What is crankshaft pulley?
This is also used to turn the camshaft.
What are the sprockets?
This is used to drive the oil pumps balance shafts and other units on the engine.
What is the auxiliary chain?
It consist of the crank sprocket, cam sprocket, timing belt and belt tensioner.
What is the timing belt drive mechanism?
This cuts low variation on the engine timing belt.
What is vibration damper?
This turns the camshaft 1/2 of the crankshaft speed
What is camshaft drive?
The key to the crankshaft snout.
What are the crank sprockets?
This prevents oil leakage from the front of the engine.
What is the engine front cover?
This provides a very smooth and accurate method of turning the camshaft.
What is the timing belt?
This controls the harmonic vibration.
What is harmonic balancer?
This is used to drive the engine camshaft.
What are the timing gears?
This is needed to prevent chain slap.
What is the chain guide?
This encloses the timing chain?
What is the timing cover?
A part of an internal combustion engine that synchronizes the rotation of the crankshaft and the camshaft(s).
What is the timing belt?
This sets up a damping action in the crankshaft.
What is the inertia ring?
This shows the technician how to install the gears properly.
What are timing marks?
When a chain flaps back and forth.
What is chain slap?
This prevents oil leakage from between the crankshaft and the front cover?
What is the front oil seal?
A spring loaded wheel that keeps the timing belt firmly seated in its sprockets.
