According to Adam Smith, Why is the "Division of Labor" good for the worker and the consumer.

The division of labor is good for both the worker and consumer because it simplifies production at an individual level and requires less skill and specialization among the workforce and therefor requires less payment to employees because their job is now significantly easier as they only have to learn one element of the manufacturing process instead of all the separate steps.  In turn, this is good for the consumer because manufacturing time and prices go way down compared to how they were prior to the division of labor.
