You are at the front desk when a patient checks in 10 minutes late with 2 small children and a phone on speaker for a work zoom meeting. What do you do next?
Greet the patient warmly. Let them know we have been looking forward to having them in the office for that appointment and that the Dr and team set some specific time aside for them. Inform them that we cannot give her the attention she deserves or provide the level of care we pride ourselves on given the situation with her work meeting and caring for little ones. In addition, we would not want to disturb other patients. Let her know we can schedule her back at a more convenient time for her. Hold your ground but don't be rude. Note in her chart.
