1. Assertive communication is expressing your thoughts, feelings, opinions in a way that makes your views and needs clearly understood by others, without putting down their thoughts, feelings, or opinions. Tone of voice is kind. Appropriate voice level is used.

2. Aggressive communication is behavior where one expresses their feelings, needs, and rights without regard or respect for the needs, rights, and feelings of others. Tone of voice is unkind (i.e. sarcastic, yelling) Voice level might be louder than necessary.


Examples of an aggressive communication style include saying things like:
