The fluid between cells.
What is interstitial fluid?
One of the most important systems of the body because "the life of the flesh is in the blood." (Lev. 17:11 The following organs are included in this system: the heart, the arteries, the veins, and the capillaries. These organs function together to bring food, water, and oxygen to the cells and to carry away waste products.
What is the cardiovascular system?
Hormones, produced by the various glands of this system, regulate activities of the body such as growth and digestion and levels of important chemicals and give certain organs messages to slow down or to speed up.
What is the endocrine system?
Organs are composed of various types of this which are a group of similar cells that work together to accomplish the task of an organ.
What is tissue?
Are thin, flexible sheets of tissue that cover or line a part of the body.
What are membranes?
The tissue that helps regulate body temperature.
What is the thoracic cavity?
The body's defense against disease-causing organisms such as bacteria and viruses and other foreign invaders. Two very important parts of this system are the white blood cells and the lymphatic system.
What is the immune system?
Provides a number of openings through which a variety of waste materials are excreted from the body.
What is the excretory system?
This tissue moves the body and its parts.
What is muscle tissue?
Consist mostly of epithelial tissues, line enclosed body cavities (such as the thoracic and abdominopelvic cavities) that do not open to the body's exterior.
What are serous membranes?
A stable internal environment in the body which if failed to be maintained results in disease or death.
What is homeostasis?
Supplies body tissues with oxygen and removes carbon dioxide from the body. The nose, nasal passages, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchial tubes, and lungs are a part of this system.
What is the respiratory system?
This system is made up of approximately 206 bones and numerous ligaments. This system provides the major storage area for calcium, protects the brain like a helmet, and protects the heart, lungs, and other vital organs.
What is the skeletal system?
This tissue controls organs and coordinates all of their functions.
What is nerve tissue?
Made up of epithelial tissues that line openings to the outside. The throat, mouth and nose are lined with these membranes.
What are the mucous membranes?
The type of membrane that lines joint cavities.
What is the synovial membrane?
This system breaks down food into a form that can be absorbed by the bloodstream. The mouth, esophagus, stomach, small and large intestine are a part of this system.
What is the digestive system?
This system provides movement for the body. There are voluntary and involuntary parts of this system. The heart is part of this system. If all of the parts of this system body pulled together in one direction, they could lift 25 tons.
What is the muscular system?
This tissue lines all body parts and covers and protects every organ, regulate temperature and regulate what enters and exits the organs.
What is epithelial tissues?
Otherwise known as our skin, this membrane is composed of several types of tissue
What is the cutaneious membrane?
This system protects the body from its surroundings, providing protection from bacteria and other microbes. The skin is the major organ of this system.
What is the integumentary system?
Coordinates the activities of the body. The brain is the most important organ of this system. It is the master control unit of the body. Sense organs such as sight, taste, smell, touch and hearing provide this system with the information from the environment. Nerves and spinal cord are also a part of this system.
What is the nervous system?
This body system is responsible for the continuation of the human race. It consists of several organs influenced by hormones produced in endocrine glands. A new living person begins at conception through this body system.
What is the reproductive system?
This tissue connects the parts of the body. This tissue that make up bones connect and support the body. Tendons and ligaments help hold muscles and bones together. Blood and lymph are considered liquid _________________ that connect all the cells. Fat is also considered this tissue because it helps protect organs from injury and also stores energy.
What is connective tissues?
The linings of our joint cavities are these membranes. They are composed of a type of connective tissue.
What are synovial membranes?
